Care

At 824 Craftworks, we create cutting boards designed for a lifetime of use. Proper care will ensure your cutting board's longevity and beauty:

  1. Cleaning:
  • After each use, wash your cutting board with mild soap and warm water.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water. Do not let the board sit in water or place it in a sink full of water.
  • Scrub with hot, soapy water without submerging, rinse, and towel dry

  1. Drying and Storage:
  • Allow your cutting board to air dry thoroughly after cleaning.
  • Store it in a well-ventilated, low-light area when not in use.
  • To prevent warping, store it in a perfectly flat area or standing on its side with feet to allow both sides to breathe.

  1. Maintenance:
  • To prevent drying and cracking, apply Cutting Board Conditioner or food-safe mineral oil regularly.
  • Oil the board completely on all sides and edges each time you condition it.
  • Condition once every 2-3 months for display boards or more frequently for regularly used boards, depending on how dry it gets.
  • Avoid using edible oils (e.g., olive oil, vegetable oil) as they can spoil and become rancid.

  1. Avoid Extreme Conditions:
  • Never wash the cutting board in the dishwasher or use it in the microwave or oven.
  • Avoid using it as a hot plate.
  • Keep the board away from direct UV light, as it can darken the wood and affect the color of exotics.

Properly cared for, your cutting board will remain a functional and beautiful addition to your kitchen for generations to come.
